Gujarat crosses the mark of 2.50 crore covid vaccine doses; 40% eligible persons jabbed with 1st dose

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has crossed the figure of total 2.50 crore covid19 vaccination doses administered across the State so far. As on Tuesday, June 29, the State administered 2,53,93,000 covid vaccine doses. The State has topped in every phase of vaccination in per million criteria. The State has vaccinated per million 3,97,572 persons.

There are total 4,93,20,903 persons who are above 18 age and eligible for covid vaccine. 40 per cent of them totaling 1,98,62,582 have been given first dose of covid vaccine. Among this group 55,31,284 have been given second dose too. Thus across Gujarat total 2,53,93,866 doses have been administered.

Gujarat has 4.92 crore eligible person above 18 age who are required to be covered under vaccination drive against covid. Therefore the total number of doses to be administered would be 9.86 crore. Of this 2.53 crore or 25 per cent doses are administered already.

The State witnessed start of vaccination on January 16. First phase covered health and frontline workers. The second phase started on 1st March, covering co-morbid and old age persons. The third phase started on 1st April covering those above 45 age. The fourth phase covered 18-44 age group from 1st of May.

While initially 10,000 doses were administered in 18-44 age group daily, the figure was scaled up to 1 lakh from May 24 for one week. Vaccination programme was expanded to all districts from June 4. Walk – in and on the spot registration was started from June 21. DeshGujarat
