Metro Rail Project – Phase2 covering Gandhinagar in progress

Gandhinagar: Metro train Project – Phase 2 covering capital town Gandhinagar is on roll now. The construction of a 5.42 km route from Motera to Mahatma Mandir is now in progress. The estimated cost of developing Metro rail service on this route is Rs 5,384 crores. The project as per present estimates will complete by 2024.
Pillars installation works are underway at Sughad, GIFT city, PDPU and Dholakuva. In this phase-2 of Metro project, which is being executed by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation, the North-South corridor from APMC to Motera stadium of Phase-1 will be extended till Mahatma Mandir. Elevated corridor of 22.84 km with 20 elevated stations will be built between Motera stadium and Mahatma Mandir. Consequently, the construction of a 5.42 km route from GNLPU to GIFT city via PDPU and 2 elevated stations will be taken up.
The stations to be covered on the route of Motera to Mahatma Mandir are Koteshwar road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada canal, Koba circle, Juna Koba, Koba Gam, GNLU, Raysan, Randesan, Dholakuva circle, Infocity, Sector-1, Sector-10A, Sachivalay, Akshardham, Juna Sachivalay, Sector-16, Sector-24 and Mahatma Mandir.
