Works on Shamlaji – Mota Chiloda six-lane highway to complete by December 2021: Gadkari

Gandhinagar: Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari today said that ongoing works for six-lane Mota Chiloda – Shamlaji national highway number 48 will be completed by December 2021.
Addressing the Vikas Divas function of Gujarat government virtually from national capital New Delhi, Nitin Gadkari said, ‘Shamlaji – Mota Chiloda six-lane highway work was bit obstructed due to Covid-19 pandemic but the works on this stretch have started again and we are determined to complete the project by December 2021.’
Gadkari said this in reference to request made regarding same by Lok Sabha member Hasmukh Patel.
Mota Chiloda (Ahmedabad) to Shamlaji highway is Gujarat-side portion of Ahmedabad – Udaipur highway. Once completed, the revamped and widened highway will bring Ahmedabad and Udaipur closer in terms of speed of travel.
Gadkari said some additional works on Chiloda – Gandhinagar – Sarkhej highway were proposed by Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitinbhai Patel under the ‘change of scope’. In response to this representation, the Centre has announced Rs. 878 crore sum and the works will start soon.
