Slaughter houses in urban areas ordered to shut during Paryushan

Gandhinagar: Slaughter houses in municipality and municipal corporation areas of Gujarat will remain shut during 3-10 September due to Paryushan parva of Jain faith, announced the State government today. This is a routine order issues every year ahead of Paryushan. Paryushana is the most important annual holy event for Jains and is usually celebrated in August or September in Hindi calendar Bhadrapad Month’s Shukla Paksha.
