Bhavina Patel to get Rs. 3 crore prize from Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has announced Rs. 3 crore prize to Bhavina Patel. This announcement was made by Sports minister of Gujarat, Ishwarsinh Patel. Bhavina Patel won silver in Tokyo Paralympics today. Last month the Gujarat government had announced Rs. 10 lakh assistance to each of six Gujarat players going to Tokyo for Olympic and Paralympic.
The announcement has been made as per a scheme announced by the State government in year 2014 according to which Gujarat player who wins Gold medal in Olympic games gets Rs 5 crore prize from the State government. One who wins Silver medal in Olympics gets Rs. 3 crore while bronze winner in Olympics is awarded with prize of Rs. 2 crore.
Gujarat players winning gold in Asian Games get Rs. 2 crore reward from the state government. Similarly, silver and bronze winners get Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 50 lakh prize respectively. The State government has a policy to give Rs. 1 crore prize to Gujarat player who wins gold medal, Rs. 50 lakh for silver medal winner and Rs. 25 lakh for bronze winner in Commonwealth games. In national games and senior national championships, individual Gujarat player who wins gold gets Rs. 3 lakh, for silver Rs. 2 lakh and for bronze Rs. 1 lakh. In national level group games be it senior/junior any of both category, first winner team’s each player gets Rs. 75,000, second number team’s each player gets Rs. 50,000 while third number team’s each player gets Rs. 25,000.
