Pilot project of Face Recognition system underway in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: The Home Department has launched pilot project of face-recognition system in Gandhinagar to spot and find the criminals and control the crimes. Face-recognition initiative complements the already executed CCTV network and eGujCop projects.
The testing of the face recognition system has started from sector 24-27 in Gandhinagar recently. The CCTV cameras placed on the main roads of capital town are connected with eGujCop and face-tagger software under this project. The software face-tagger will recognize the suspicious persons by matching their face with the data of eGujCop through CCTV camera.
The project will be executed in the entire state under the VISWAS Netram project after success of the pilot project with an estimated possible budget allocation of Rs 800 crore. 1.25 lakh CCTV cameras across Gujarat will be roped in eventually to face recognition system. DeshGujarat
