National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) Tripura off-campus to be set up at the cost of Rs 100 crores

Government of Tripura has allocated Rs 100 crores for the permanent off-campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). NFSU’s permanent campus will be built on a large 70-acre site in the Srinagar area of ​​Tripura. The permanent campus will soon have a ‘formal bhumi pujan’ and a temporary transit campus will be inaugurated in the Buddhamandir area of ​​Agartala.

Notably, the National Forensic Sciences University is the world’s first and only university dedicated to forensic science. The Union of Home and Co-operation Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the Goa Off-Campus of NFSU and laid the foundation stone of the permanent campus to be constructed at Dharbandoda, Goa on October 14, 2021. Apart from the NFSU Gandhinagar headquarters at present, Delhi and Goa campuses are also functioning and soon the Tripura campus will also be functioning from this academic year-2021-22.

A temporary transit campus for the Tripura off-campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) will be inaugurated in the Buddhamandir area of Tripura soon. The Government of Tripura has allotted 70 acres of land at Srinagar for a permanent “Tripura Campus”. In the initial phase, Rs 100 crores has been allocated for NFSU’s Tripura off-campus.

The delegation led by Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU called on Shri Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister, Tripura; Ms. Pratima Bhaumik, Union Minister of State- Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment; Shri Ratan Lal Nath, Education Minister, Tripura on Monday, October 25, 2021.

A number of issues were discussed during the visit. Various courses will be started by NFSU from the academic year 2021-22. The establishment of a new campus in Tripura will create manpower of ‘skilled forensic experts’. In the initial stage, the NFSU will start functioning in collaboration with State Forensic Laboratory, Tripura. In addition, separate arrangements have been made for foreign students. Importantly, a course on drone forensics will also be taught there.

During a meeting with dignitaries, officers including Shri Biplab Kumar Deb, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura the delegation led by Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU; Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare, Campus Director, Shri. C. D. Jadeja, Executive Registrar, and Soumya Gupta, Secretary, Education Department-Tripura and other office bearers were present.
