SMC plans 4.85 km long BRTS route on outer ring-road

Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is planning to develop a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route covering 4.85-km length from Saroli bridge to Variav khadi bridge on the outer ring-road.
The tender of Rs 45.52 crores for developing the outer ring-road on 4.85 km length and 90-meter width from Saroli bridge to Variav khadi bridge has been put forward to the standing committee for approval. The road will be 42 meter wide. The 12-metre width in the middle will be kept reserved for the BRTS route and the road will be developed in the 11-meter area on its both sides along with street-lights and storm water network. It will help to ease the traffic issue due to development of commercial and residential areas in the future. The outer-ring road project is planned to be completed till 2022.
