Gujarat govt launches new Startup and Innovation Policy for 2022-2027 period

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister today launched Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP 2.0) for January 2022 to March 2027 period.

The policy has provision of setting up active innovation and incubation center in all universities. It intends to aware 50 lakh students across 1,000 higher education institutes and 10,000 schools for innovation and entrepreneurship. The policy intends to give assistance to 10,000 proof of concepts/prototypes developed by students. It also proposes to give assistance to 1,000 proof of concepts developed by school children. Rs. 5,000 assistance for filing to students, creation of strong pre-incubation support system in minimum 500 educational institutes and universities, upscaling of 1500 student-startups, incubation of 500 startups(physical and virtual) on i-Hub. Assistance to 500 startups under startup-srijan seed support at i-Hub.

The policy has provision of upto Rs. 5 crore benefit in next five years for setting up incubation center and encourage the innovation activities in universities of the State. The institutions can get benefit upto Rs. 2 crore to support innovation and startup activities in next five years. Upto Rs. 75,000 IP filing support for innovators and start up in the case of locals and upto Rs. 1.5 lakh support for filing of IP abroad. The policy has provision of upto Rs. 10 lakh seed grant to startup-innovations. Financial assistance for awareness programme for incubators, boot camps, seminars, conferences will be given to universities, institutions and incubators.
