Accused sent on one-day remand for burning BJP MLA’s car in Vadodara

Vadodara: The crime branch of city police conducted reconstruction of the case of burning the Innova car of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA of the city who is also former minister.

The reconstruction took place on the route of Vadi, Mogalvada to Ravpura, Jubilee Baug. The accused Mohammad Anis Mohammad Hanif Daruwala (age 44, resident of Daruwala mentions, Mogalwada, vadi) had set on fire an Innova car of BJP MLA of Manjalpur area Yogesh Patel.

A large number of people had gathered to watch the reconstruction of this case. The court has approved one day remand of the accused. The crime branch had sought 5-day remand of the accused.

MLA Yogesh Patel lives in Amdavadi Pol in Ravpura. He parks his Innova car near Jubilee Bag police chowki. The accused had set on fire to Yogeshbhai’s car on 27th January. The investigation was then handed over to the crime branch. The accused Mohammad Anish confessed that he had reached Jubilee Bag after stealing a bike from Mogalwada using a duplicate key. He had escaped after burnimg a newspaper-wrapped with a woolen jacket with a lighter and threw it on the bonnet of the car. The police are investigating to trace the mastermind behind the crime.

The accused had received phone calls from 6 numbers within the month. He has not received any call on 26th and 27th January, as per investigation. The crime branch has added the section of theft in the original complaint against the accused, as he had stolen the bike of Maksud Ahmed living in Mogalwada.

The accused had made another attempt to burn the car around 12 days ago but he had returned after finding a driver of a car washing another car parked nearby. After setting fire the car of the MLA, the accused had gone there again in the morning to check how much the car had burned. DeshGujarat
