Farmers hold meeting to protest new railway line from Hazira over land acquisition

Surat: The farmer leaders held a meeting in Junagam in protest of land acquisition for Hazira-Gothan railway line.

The meeting was held in Shivrampur in Junagam, Surat. The farmers have decided to participate in a rally to be held from Bhesan on 11th March. They alleged that the drinking water and farming water delivered in Junagam is saline due to the industries.

The government demands the land for land acquisition from the farmers despite it being grazing land, they alleged. The locals don’t get adequate employment opportunities, they alleged. So, the farmers are not willing to allot the land for the railway track at any cost, as per them. DeshGujarat
