L&T, BAE Systems Begin Production of BvS10 Sindhu Vehicles for Indian Army in Surat

Surat: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and BAE Systems on Wednesday commenced production of the BvS10 Sindhu articulated all-terrain vehicle for the Indian Army at Hazira in Surat. The Army has ordered 18 vehicles for deployment in Ladakh and Kutch to support operations in extreme weather and challenging terrain.

Designed to operate at altitudes of up to 18,000 feet and temperatures as low as minus 55 degrees Celsius, the vehicles will support military operations in Ladakh’s snow-covered mountains. In Kutch, they will be used for patrolling marshlands, deserts and the Great Rann, where temperatures can reach 55 degrees Celsius.

Arun Ramchandani, Senior Vice-President and Head of L&T Precision Engineering, said the production launch marked a significant milestone in the companies’ strategic partnership, established in 2023. He highlighted the vehicle’s versatility and the companies’ plans to scale up manufacturing while maintaining high engineering standards.

Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, President of BAE Systems Hägglunds, said the BvS10 had been deployed by several countries and proven its mobility and troop-protection capabilities in operational environments. He also praised L&T’s engineering expertise and manufacturing infrastructure in adapting the platform to the Indian Army’s requirements. DeshGujarat
