April 20, 2022
An audio clip claimed to be of a conversation between a parent and the school staff personnel of Knowledge High School in Nadiad has gone viral. The parent in the audio is registering his displeasure for the alleged allotment of separate rooms to the Muslim students of the school for offering Namaz. The parent is further heard asking whether Hindu students will be offered separate rooms for reciting Hanuman Chalisa. The staff member replied that Muslim students were using certain rooms of the school campus specifically to offer Namaz, but they were not specifically assigned those rooms.
A local resident named Jignesh Patel while talking with Sandesh News has claimed that Knowledge School has arranged for specific classes for Muslim students along with arranging separate Namaz rooms for them. Patel has opposed the school’s policy of giving special treatment to a particular religion.
The campus director of the school accepted that the news of arranging special rooms for Namaz for Muslim students is true. The director said that when the parents of the Muslim students requested a separate prayer room so that their children can offer the Friday Namaz, the facility was then provided.
The news of alleged allotment of separate rooms for Namaz comes in the backdrop of the ongoing controversy of Hijab ban in the educational institutions of Karnataka.
