DRI seizes Rs 500 crore worth of Cocaine consignment at Mundra port
May 27, 2022
Kutch: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 52 kgs of Cocaine hidden amidst imported containers of 25 metric tonnes of common salt at Mundra port on Thursday. The international market value of the Cocaine confiscated is about Rs 500 crore.
Prima facie, it seems that the drug haul belongs to an Iranian drug mafia syndicate because the containers were offloaded from a ship that arrived from Iran. The DRI has also identified the entity behind the imported consignment and began raiding its offices and arresting the suspects. Documents such as the bill of entry that are produced before the Mundra Customs authorities have also been confiscated.
A team of DRI secretly conducted surveillance of the containers for three days and found a white powder inside 1,000 plastic bags. The DRI took the help of FSL to test its purity, which gave a report that the powder was Cocaine. DeshGujarat
