Vedancha gram panchayat in Gujarat earns Rs 45,000 monthly from sale of organic fertilizer

Palanpur: The grey-water treatment plant of Vedancha village of Palanpur taluka is generating 5.5-6 tonnes of organic fertilizer every 25 days, which has become a source of revenue for the gram panchayat.
The Vedancha gram panchayat is selling the organic fertilizer generated by the grey-water treatment plant in 30 kg bags for Rs 200 each, which translates into earnings of Rs 45,000 every month.
The Grey water treatment plant has been set up at Vedancha at a cost of Rs 5 lakh for the purpose of liquid waste disposal under the Swachha Bharat Mission (Rural) programme. The village uses the grey water after being treated for the purpose of irrigation. DeshGujarat
