Industry body writes to CM complaining inadequate quantity of lignite supply by GMDC
May 31, 2022
Morbi: The Morbi Chamber of Commerce in a letter to the chief minister has raised the issue of inadequate supply of lignite to small and medium industries of Morbi and threatened to launch a movement protesting GMDC’s unfair trade practice if the problem doesn’t get resolved within 15 days.
The industry body says in the letter that factories are having to stagger their production activity because of insufficient quantity of lignite, which adversely impacts the wages of laborers.
The industry body says that brokers of GMDC offer large quantities of lignite to those factories that agree to pay more for the mineral than its prevailing market price.
The industry body has sought the abolishing of the broker system in GMDC and other such functional changes at the state PSU as a solution to this problem. DeshGujarat.
