Bharuch police to receive tip-offs/information through letter boxes
June 01, 2022
Bharuch: Bharuch police have always relied on informers to control crimes such as seizing liquor, solving murder mysteries, cases of domestic violence, eve-teasing or violation of human rights. However, now a bunch of boxes will play an even more important role than that of the informers in the life of the Bharuch district police.
Five letter boxes have been installed in various areas of the city so that any information, tip-off or letter that is dropped into them will reach the police directly. The police will act on the information received through this letter box after verifying whether the information is true or false.
As an example, if liquor is being sold in a certain area it is but natural that a person may not have the courage to appear in person and inform the police. In such circumstances, the person can scribble the name of the spot where the liquor is being sold and the details of the person selling it on a piece of paper and drop it in one of these five letter boxes. This information will reach the concerned police station and appropriate steps will be taken. These letter boxes will prove very useful in bringing to light cases of liquor vending.
Similarly, working women or college going girls who are not bold enough to report incidents of sexual harassment or eve-teasing directly to the police, can write it on a piece of paper and drop it in one of these letter boxes. Their complaint will be resolved within hours by the police.
These letter boxes can also be useful to report domestic violence by a woman who is being beaten up by her husband or being harassed for dowry. Such women can write their details on paper and drop it in one of the letter boxes. Only time will tell how far these letter boxes will succeed in uncovering criminal offences. DeshGujarat
