Alliance Air to begin flights to Diu, Ahmedabad from Surat
June 06, 2022
Surat: At a time when passengers at Surat Airport are continuously increasing, Air India’s subsidiary, Alliance Air, plans to begin flights from Surat to Ahmedabad and to Diu and the airline has sent a request to be allocated a slot at the Surat Airport for the purpose, the Airport Director informed in a tweet.
Alliance Air believes that intra-state connectivity from Surat is not of professional standards and would like to start a flight to Diu, which is a Union Territory and also not a dry area, to tap passenger demand in the same way as the Surat-Goa flight. Even passengers going from Surat to Gir-Somnath can avail the benefit of this flight.
Demand for a 42-seater commercial flight connecting Surat to Ahmedabad is also growing louder. Considering the fact that Air India has an existing counter at the Surat Airport, the new services should become operational by the end of the monsoon.
On the other hand, Tata-Singapore group’s premium airline, Vistara, will start operating flights from Surat to Delhi and to Bengaluru in the first phase. Besides the airline’s plans to launch flights to Coimbatore and Goa from Surat, it is also looking at distributing single PNR tickets to Dubai and Singapore at the Surat Airport. Sources have indicated that Vistara has requested for slots from Surat Airpot for flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Goa and to be given permission to set up a ticket-booking office.
The airline is planning to offer premium services to businessmen in diamond, textiles and other sectors at the Surat Airport. DeshGujarat
