Vadodara: The Industrial Safety and Health Department has slapped Deepak Nitrate in Nandesari GIDC of Vadodara with a closure notice three days after a huge fire broke out in the company with a huge explosion three days ago. Production activities have been halted and the company management has been asked to get a ‘structure stability certificate’ from a government-approved institution.
Seven people suffered injuries in the incident for which probes such as what could have been the reason for the explosions, why did the fire break out, and whether the company was following adequate safety measures, have been initiated against the company.
The blaze started in the company’s warehouse and took around two-and-a-half hours to be brought under control. Fortunately, the blaze did not spread to the plant.
The regional office of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) too has prepared a report regarding the incident and it will be sent to the head office. The company could be penalized if the report indicates that there has been environmental damage because of the incident. DeshGujarat.
