Ahmedabad: A 23-year-old man died after jumping from a building to escape a fire at Magnet Corporate Park in the Thaltej area of Ahmedabad on Monday night. The victim, identified as Rachit Patel, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital, police confirmed.
Patel, a native of Rajkot, had joined iFedora Services Pvt Ltd, a company operating from the commercial complex, around six months ago after completing his MBA.
The fire broke out at iFedora Services Pvt Ltd, triggering panic among employees and occupants of the building. As thick smoke engulfed the premises, several people reportedly took refuge on ledges to escape the flames, while others attempted to jump to safety.
Another person sustained serious injuries in the incident and was admitted to Zydus Hospital for treatment. Five others were shifted to Sola Civil Hospital after suffering from suffocation and other injuries. They were discharged after receiving initial treatment.
The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety arrangements and emergency evacuation measures in commercial buildings. DeshGujarat
