Gir Somnath district witnesses floods due to very heavy rainfall

Somnath: Sutrapada reported 12 inches rain and Kodinar reported 9 inches rain in 7 hours. Veraval reported 5 inches of rain in 6 hours. The route of highway in-progress near Pedhavada between Veraval and Kodinar drowned in the water of Somat river due to heavy rain. The vehicle transportation stopped due to the same. The flooding has occured in the farms and roads of the villages.

The flood occured in the streets of the villages such as Prashnavada, Lodhva and Singsar. The bridge connecting Matana village drowned in water. The floods have occured on the main roads including Umbri, connecting the villages of Sutrapada taluka. Kodinar city also witnessed water logging in many societies, roads and low lying areas.

Sutrapada reported 132 mm rain from 6 am to 12 pm today, with 98 mm rainfall between 6 am to 8 am. Kodinar and Veraval reported 19 mm and 106 mm rain respectively between 6 am to 12 pm today. DeshGujarat
