SMC to procure first in Gujarat, 90 m tall aerial ladder platform to bolster firefighting ops in high-rises
July 06, 2022
Surat: There are scarcely any doubts that high-rise buildings will have to be constructed in rapidly developing Surat city. And the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has already began preparations so that they have the ability to conduct fire-fighting operations in such tall buildings.
The Fire Department of the SMC has placed a proposal for procurement of a 90-meter tall aerial ladder platform before those controlling the civic body. Currently, the SMC has a 70-meter tall aerial ladder platform while the Rajkot and Ahmedabad civic bodies have an 81-meter tall aerial ladder platform. However, Surat will be the only city in Gujarat to have an aerial ladder platform with a height of 90 meters.
The said platform costing Rs 17.51 crore will be procured from the Mumbai-based authorized agent Brijwasi Fire Safety System of Finland’s Bronto Skylift in Euros. SMC’s Fire Department will get the aerial ladder platform within 1.5 years of receiving in-principle approval for the proposal.
Currently, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has a 90-meters tall aerial ladder platform in the country. DeshGujarat
