Indian Coast Guard rescues five fishermen during midnight operation off Okha coast

Okha: In a rescue operation conducted at midnight of 02/03 August 2022, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship C-413 rescued five fishermen from a flooding fishing boat off Okha. All crew have been brought safely to Okha.
At about 00:45 AM on 03 August 2022, Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters, Okha received information regarding uncontrolled flooding onboard Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) ‘Raj Ayushi’. The position of the boat was ascertained and observed to be 10 Nautical Miles off Okha. ICG responded promptly and a fast interceptor class of ship, C-413 was sailed with dispatch to render assistance. The vessels in the vicinity were also alerted to maintain sharp lookout and render assistance on sighting.
The ICG ship braving very rough seas and with maximum speed reached area at about 02:15 AM. The boat was observed to be flooded heavily, partially submerged in water and listed to one side. In attempt to prioritizing life saving, the crew were taken onboard ICG Ship. The ICG personnel thereafter attempted to control flooding using submersible pump, consequently controlling flooding.
