713 kg MD drug worth Rs 2000 crore recovered from Central Gujarat

Vadodara: Gujarat ATS and Anti-Narcotics cell of Mumbai have seized MDMA drug worth Rs 2000 Crore from Vadodara and Ankleshwar respectively. A total of 713 kg of Mephedrone (MD) drug was seized in a separate raid conducted on 16th August.

Gujarat ATS recovered 200kg of MDMA drug that was being prepared illegally in a factory near Moksi village in Vadodara. ATS DIG Dipen Bhadran said MDMA drugs were being prepared under the guise of making chemicals. There is a possibility that the drug may have been supplied to different parts of the country, he added. Vadodara SOG was also part of this operation.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police also recovered 513 kg MD drug from Ankleshwar in the Bharuch district of Gujarat. The value of the seized drugs is Rs 1,026 crore in the international market. According to the police, all 7 arrested including a woman are part of a gang. Efforts are being made to find out about the supply chain of the drugs.

As a result of a tip-off, the ANC’s Worli branch conducted a raid on August 13 and nabbed property owner Giriraj Dixit and seized 513 kg of mephedrone worth Rs 1,026 crore. Dixit’s name came to light during the interrogating of the accused arrested in the Rs 1,400 crore MD seizure made in Nalasopara on August 3.

Mephedrone, also known as ‘meow meow’ or MD drug, is banned under NDPS Act.
