Sabarmati Riverfront: Prime Minister Narendra Modi while participating in Khadi Utsav here today spun a 94-year old Charkha for over a minute and became the part of the gathering of 7500 Charkha spinning women.

The Charkha that PM Modi spun in the Khadi Utsav today is 94 years old, first used in 1928 during Bardoli Satyagrah in South Gujarat. PM Modi, ahead of the start of the function also reviewed 22 old charkhas that belongs to year 1920.

The Khadi Utsav features participation by seven thousand five hundred Women Charkha spinners and Khadi artisans. After reaching the location, PM Modi interacted with a few of the spinners, then he as well joined in the art of making Khadi for about two minutes. DeshGujarat
