The income tax department officials while going through the money trails of the registered unrecognized political parties (RUPPs) in the state have found donations of Rs 4,000 crore received over three financial years.

According to the sources, two parties registered in Mumbai – SVP Party and JCP had also got funds from Gujarat. 

“Three parties based in Ahmedabad having names similar to national parties have received about Rs 700 crore. What connects all these parties is the near-zero presence on the ground,” said sources.

It has come to light that APMC-based firms were reportedly used to launder money.
