672 Textile units to resume production in October after inauguration of CETP

Ahmedabad: 672 textile processing units will resume operations in October as the new Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP) will be operational from the first week of next month. These units in Behrampura and Danilimda were closed nine months ago due to pollution issues.
A senior official of GPCB told the media that these units were shut down because they did not have CEPT, now after the CEPT work is complete, member units can start production after getting consolidated consent and authorisation (CCA).
Arif Pomchawala, the president of the Ahmedabad Hand Screen Printing Association said that The CEPT is set up with State and Central grants and AMC is the Nodal Agency. The association has also spent ₹12 crores on this ₹112 crore project which is supposed to be inaugurated in the first week of October. He also informed that these MSME units provide work to about 1 Lakh people.
