Gandhinagar Mayor pays Rs. 80,000 from personal pocket for leftover kite threads

Gandhinagar: The Mayor of Gandhiniagar city in Gujarat purchased leftover kite threads by paying Rs. 80,000 in order to save birds and humans post the Kite flying festival which was celebrated on 14-15 January like every year across Gujarat. Mayor Hitesh Makwana had offered Rs. 200 per Kg to those who collect and bring leftover kite threads. During the drive that continued in the 13-20 January period, the citizens deposited 400 kg of leftover kite thread. The Mayor paid Rs. 80,000 on account of this from his own pocket.
