Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has promoted Dr. Shamsher Singh, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, presently Commissioner of Police for Vadodara city to the post of Director General of Police (DGP) grade. Singh will continue to function as Commissioner of Vadodara city police. Dr. Shamsher Singh has completed his Ph.D. He is an alumnus of IIT Delhi. He is a runner with a track record of participation in running events including the Run the Rann event in which he completed a 161-km ultra trail run in  Kutch in just 39 hours against the allotted 45 hours.
