Bhuj records highest February temperature in 71 years at 40.3 degrees
February 17, 2023
Kutch: The City of Bhuj in the Kutch district experienced its highest temperature in February in 71 years, reaching 40.3 degrees Celsius on February 16th, Meteorological Department said today.
Temperature records for Bhuj have been kept since 1952. The previous highest temperature for February was 39 degrees Celsius, which occurred on February 19, 2017.
The IMD predicts that maximum temperatures in some parts of north Gujarat and the Saurashtra-Kutch regions will range from 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in the next two days. Although there is no heat wave warning, temperatures will remain high in certain areas.
According to Vijin Lal, a scientist at the IMD Ahmedabad meteorological center, February is a period of transition from winter to summer, with days experiencing lower minimum and higher maximum temperatures. He also noted that clear skies, a northeast wind, and a delayed coastal sea breeze are likely to have contributed to the temperature increase.
Ahmedabad will have a clear sky with minimum and maximum temperatures of 16 and 39 degrees Celsius until Saturday morning, added the IMD bulletin. DeshGujarat
