Junagadh Collector launches inquiry into fake Covid vaccination certificates
February 23, 2023
Junagadh: Junagadh District Collector Rachit Raj has initiated an investigation into the issuance of counterfeit Covid vaccination certificates in the names of popular actors and cricketers to meet vaccination targets.
A five-member committee led by the Deputy Development Officer will examine the matter and present its findings within a fortnight, along with recommendations for action. The Collector stated that paramedics had inoculated certain celebrities to meet vaccination targets and those responsible will face consequences.
Social media has seen the circulation of four fake certificates, including one for Jaya Bachchan with an age of 23 from Mendapara Primary Health Center, another for Mohammad Kaif with an age of 22 from the same center, one for Juhi Chawla with an age of 44 from Motipara Primary Health Centre, and a certificate for Mahima Chaudhary, aged 57, from Prempara sub-health centre.
The District Collector has excluded Junagadh District Chief Medical Officer from the committee, as the scam is committed by the team reporting to him. DeshGujarat
