Row over Augusta 2 ship’s arrival at Alang

Alang: The customs department will conduct a check of the ship named Augusta-2 in the ship recycling yard of Alang.
Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) has granted approval to the Augusta-2 ship for breaking at the Alang Ship Breaking Yard. The customs department and other government agencies will conduct a check of the ship on Friday. Tahir Lakhani, from Dubai, had tried to sell the ship to the ship-breakers in Pakistan and Bangladesh. However, the shipbreakers from both countries refused to purchase.
The ship named Augusta-2 has been purchased by Bhikhamal Chhotelal Exim Pvt Ltd at Plot No. 16 in Alang Ship Recycling Yard. Teams from DRI, Customs, Navy, Coast Guard, ATS, and GMB will conduct a check on Friday. The ship was manufactured in 1991 and is 183 meters long and 32 meters wide. DeshGujarat
