PM to inaugurate over 42,000 houses built under PM Awas Yojna in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate over 42,000 houses built at a cost of ₹1,946 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban and Rural) on Friday. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Agriculture and Rural Housing Minister Shri Raghavji Patel and other ministers will also be present at the ‘Amrut Awas Utsav’ to be organized at Mahatma Mandir at 12 noon.

A total of 7,113 houses will be inaugurated by the  PM under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). He will also lay the foundation stone for 4,331 houses and facilitate ‘Griha Pravesh’ for 18,997 houses under the said scheme. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), 12,000 houses will be inaugurated in 3,740 villages of 232 talukas. A total of 42,441 houses, at a cost of ₹ 1,946 crore, will be dedicated to the people, under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

PM will hand over house keys to seven beneficiaries at the event.

He will also interact with the beneficiaries, at various locations, virtually and address the event. A short film on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban and Rural) will also be screened during the event.

A total of 7,000 beneficiaries including 4,000 from urban areas and 3,000 from rural areas will be present in the main programme. Apart from this, beneficiaries from various parts of Gujarat will join the event virtually.

Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG) will provide connectivity at 3,900 urban and rural project sites in the state.

Cultural activities like ‘toran-rangoli’, floral decorations, tree plantations, ‘kalash vidhis’ and pujas by women in addition to local folk songs and dances have been organized at every place. Along with this, a pledge will also be taken for Lifestyle for The Environment (LiFE) by all those present at the event. Mayors, former taluka and district panchayat members, presidents, MLAs, MPs, and other dignitaries will be present at each venue.

A total of 11.56 lakh houses have already been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Gujarat. Out of this, a total of 7.50 lakh houses have been built in urban areas and more than 4.06 lakh houses in rural areas.
