May 20, 2023
Dahod: The administration of Dahod Municipality demolished Nagina Masjid in the city today at 4.15 a.m.
Nagina Masjid is located across Bhagini Samaj on Station Road. The illegal constructions surrounding the mosque had already been demolished. The demolition took place as part of the implementation of the Smart City Project.
The administration asserted that the entire masjid was an unauthorized construction, whereas the masjid trustees contended that the illegal portion amounted to only 6 feet in size. Subsequently, the authorities requested the masjid committee to provide land record documents by Friday. However, despite the masjid committee’s plea to the Gujarat High Court, officials verified that no documents were submitted within the stipulated timeframe.
Approximately 450 police personnel, along with mamlatdar, municipality, and city survey teams, assembled at the location for security purposes at 2.30 a.m. Female police personnel were also deployed at the site. Dahod’s female prant officer, NB Rajput, arrived at 3.45 a.m. The demolition of the mosque was carried out using two Hitachi machines, completing the entire process in approximately 45 to 50 minutes.
