NFSU Gandhinagar and NIA to set up forensic labs for Pakistani drones
June 24, 2023
Gandhinagar: The National Forensic Science University (NFSU) of Gandhinagar and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will be establishing three investigation laboratories in Kashmir to examine and analyze Pakistani drones that are being sent to the region.
According to reliable sources at NFSU, the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir is highly sensitive, with a recent surge in the recovery of Pakistani drones involved in drug trafficking, counterfeit currency circulation, and espionage activities. A meeting between NFSU and NIA officials took place to address the escalating drone incidents along the Baramulla border.
The sources further revealed that Indian security agencies have successfully intercepted and brought down over 200 drones, but the investigation and analysis of these drones present challenges. In light of this, NFSU has launched an “Anti-drone forensic program” under the guidance of retired Indian Air Force officers. The program aims to develop techniques to control drones.
Moreover, if drones can be secured and landed safely without damage, trained experts can conduct thorough forensic investigations to determine their controllers and gather crucial information. To facilitate this, joint forensic investigation laboratories will be established in Jammu & Kashmir, with one each in Srinagar, Jammu, and Ladakh. DeshGujarat
