Heavy to very heavy rain forecast for Navsari and Valsad during June 28-30

Gandhinagar: A Weather Watch Group meeting was convened today at the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) in Gandhinagar, under the leadership of Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey. The purpose of the meeting was to review the monsoon situation in the state and assess the preparedness of all departments involved.
During the meeting, an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) briefed the attendees about the rainfall situation, stating that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain throughout Gujarat during the current week. Specifically, from 28/06/2023 to 30/06/2023, there is a likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain in the Navsari and Valsad districts of South Gujarat.
Officials from the Irrigation Department reported that out of the 206 reservoirs in the state, 6 reservoirs are on high alert, 3 on alert, and 1 on warning status.
NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) officials shared that a deployment plan has been formulated to address the monsoon rain situation, and all teams are on high alert.
Representatives from various departments including GSDMA (Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority), CWC (Central Water Commission), Agriculture, Health, Forest, Bysegg, GMB (Gujarat Maritime Board), Panchayat, Coast Guard, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), Energy, Fisheries, Roads and Buildings, GSRTC (Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation), Air Force, Fire, UDD (Urban Development and Urban Housing Department), ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), Animal Husbandry, BSF (Border Security Force), Food and Civil Supplies, and Information Department Nodal Officers were present at the meeting.
