Communal clash in Balisana, several injured, twelve booked in cross complaints

Patan: Balisana Police has booked 12 including 10 Muslims and 2 Hindus on cross complaints filed by Mit Patel and Arif Sheikh over rioting and attack.

Patel has in his complaint stated that he was out from home at 9.30 pm on July 16 and walking with his friends Jasmin Patel, Dhruv Patel, Yash Patel, Om Patel and Gaurav Patel near Bhavani Mata Mandir when a mob of around 40 persons from the Mosque side and asked our names. Then they started ‘maaro, kaapo, don’t allow them to go alive, let’s kill them’ and started attacking using sharp weapons’, swords, steel pipes and wooden dhoka. Abdhul Kadar Mastar alias Bhailu Mastar had steel pipe which hit my head while his aid Taufik Hussain Nazirmiya Sheikh and Sheikh Sabad Mohammad Hasab were also beating up and asking others to do head injury to take life. Arif Abdul Sheikh, Ilyas Ibrahim Sheikh and Faizarali Mizam Udril Sheikh were also attacking using pipe and dhoka. Four including Jasminbhai, Omkumar, Gaurav, Yash, Dhruv were beaten up and thrashed.

A complainant has identified Ahmed Delegate, Sikandar Abdul(Eco car owner), Bhailu Master’s son, Khalil Dilawar(garage walo) among attackers. A complainant has also alleged that the attackers were using abusive words. The injured persons were rescued by others who rushed there and taken to Dharpur based hospital. A complainant has stated that the incident of attack is linked to a social media post by a youth from Balisana a few days ago. The social media post was according to sources regarding recent movie The Kerala Story.

On the other hand in a cross complaint, Arif Sheikh (32) has alleged that He was at paan parlor in Masjid chowk when Krish Patel attacked his uncle Ilyasbhai using steel pipe which actually hit him, following which a mob gathered. Sheikh stated that when Ilyasbhai was taken in 108 ambulance, Sarpanch Nimesh Patel stopped the ambulance and hit him using a stone. Sheikh said he and his uncle ran away to their locality and went to Patan civil hospital in a private car later.
