Rajkot: The administration is likely to dedicate another new over bridge in Rajkot, possibly in the next month. This latest flyover in the city is being built at a cost of over Rs 60 crore. It will connect Rajkot city to Jamnagar highway at Madhapar Chowk.
The construction of the bridge is in the final stage and it is likely to be dedicated for the public in September. It will benefit the passengers traveling to Rajkot-Ahmedabad, Rajkot-Jamnagar and Rajkot-Morbi. The bridge is 1124.70 meter long, 23.82 meter wide, and 5.50 meter high with a 9.10 meter wide service road.
It was planned to build an overbridge towards Jamnagar road and an underbridge from 150 feet ring road to Morbi Ahmedabad highway. The contract was given to CRP Infra company in October 2020 at a cost of Rs 64 crore. The company was supposed to complete the construction within 15 months as per the contract. However, the work was not started till 8 months. The state government postponed the deadline to April 2023. The officials claimed that the reasons behind the delay in the construction were traffic and land acquisition. The second phase of the bridge connecting the 150 feet ring road with Morbi road is likely to be started soon.
