Anand: The police have recovered a burnt hard disk from the Sandesar Canal here in connection with the Anand district collector honey trap case. It has been revealed that the accused Deputy Mamlatdar, Jayesh Patel, burned and threw the hard disk into the canal in an attempt to destroy the evidence. The hard disk, it is believed was containing the footage of the physical relations of the district collector with a woman, recorded by a spy camera installed by Patel.

On Sunday evening, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Anand Police also conducted a search at a garage named Nisha Automobiles near Zydus Hospital, where a spy camera was allegedly destroyed. This camera had been used in the sting operation involving the suspended Anand Collector,  Gadhvi.

This morning, the LCB team arrived at the Sandesar Canal and recovered the burnt hard disk from the canal with the assistance of divers. As the retrieved items were burned, they will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further investigation.

Meanwhile, during the investigation, it has come to light that both the accused ADM Ketki Vyas and Deputy Mamlatdar have been alleged to possess disproportionate assets, which have caused losses to the exchequer. It is alleged that the accused gained illegal favors after manipulating files related to the disputed land. The Anti-Corruption Bureau will conduct an investigation into this matter. It has also come to the light that accused Patel had got a job in the government under Rahem Rahem rule after his father, a government servant passed away.

In another development, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has started investigating the properties of the accused to check whether there are disproportionate assets created using corrupt practices. Accused Jayesh Patel’s bungalow has been found in Karamsad’s Shalimar Green Society in the name of his wife.

In another update, accused Ketki Vyas’s personal assistant (PAS) Gautam Chaudhary is going to record his statement before the magistrate as an approver.

The Police had arrested the RAC of Anand district, Ms Ketki Vyas (KV Vyas), Chitnis to Collector Jayesh Patel and his friend Harish Chavda under IPC sections 389, 354C,  IT act 66e AND 67a and IPC section 120b over viral video clips of Suspended district collector of Anand DS Gadhvi.
