Gujarat govt to facilitate free bus rides for apprentices
September 01, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has decided to provide free bus passes to apprentices undertaking apprenticeships at industrial units located more than 30 kilometres away from their residences.
The state government estimates that approximately 20 thousand apprentices are expected to benefit from this initiative. The scheme will include apprentices engaged in apprenticeships with a maximum duration of 2 years at units situated over 30 kilometres away from their residences. The labour and skills department will allocate Rs 3,647.97 lakh to GSRTC (Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation) as ST bus fare for the program.
The benefit will be provided from September 2023 onwards. Registered units on the portal will be required to recommend the issuance of a free ST bus pass for the respective apprentice to the assistant apprentice advisor at the related ex-officio office. After verification, the assistant apprentice advisor will forward the necessary documents to the GSRTC office, which will then provide the free bus pass. DeshGujarat
