Rajkot gets new satellite bus station of GSRTC on Bhavnagar road

Rajkot: Rajkot today received its second bus station of Gujarat State Transport Corporation (GSRTC) on Bhavnagar road. This new bus station will cater to the bus traffic heading towards the eastern districts from Rajkot.

The inauguration of this satellite bus station, located near Amul Circle on Bhavnagar Road, was carried out by Harsh Sanghavi, the Minister of State for Home, Industries, Transport, Youth, and Sports.

This new satellite bus station, spanning 19,248 square meters, features 10 platforms, 3 passenger alighting platforms, a general waiting area, a women-only waiting area, segregated toilet facilities for both men and women and one accessible restroom for individuals with disabilities.

The bus station will handle the buses connecting Rajkot to districts such as Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, and the eastern part of Rajkot’s rural areas.

The foundation stone for this bus station was laid by the then Rajkot’s Mayor, Bina Acharya, on March 8, 2020, with GSRTC initially stating that it would become operational within a year.

Regarding the delay, J B Karotra, the divisional controller (DC) of the Rajkot division of GSRTC, explained, “There was a delay of around one and a half years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There was no other delay, and the agency remained the same. There was no change in the project’s design.”

This satellite bus station will complement the existing GSRTC Busport located on Dhebar Road, which handles an average of 1,100 arrivals and departures. DeshGujarat
