September 05, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to adopt a no-repeat policy while selecting the top office bearers in Municipalities, Municipal Corporations, and Panchayat bodies for the next two and half years term. This decision was announced by State BJP chief CR Patil today in a press conference at his bungalow here. The four posts in which no-repeat policy will be effective are Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee Chairman and Presidents(in case of district panchayats).
Patil said the no-repeat policy aims to provide maximum opportunities to newcomers. BJP has secured 90.5 percent of the seats, so this decision aims to offer opportunities to more individuals. Around 1,500 office bearers are to be selected for various posts of office bearers, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee Chairman, municipality presidents, district panchayat presidents among others.
Patil said – each worker’s seniority, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors will be considered, and allegations against the workers will be verified. The Gujarat BJP Parliamentary Board meeting started today afternoon for the selection of office bearers in local bodies. DeshGujarat
