Security measures intensify as Ganesh Visarjan & Eid coincide on Sept 28

Gandhinagar: With the possibility of Ganesh Visarjan and Eid-e-Milad coinciding on September 28, the state police are increasing security measures, especially in cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara.
High-ranking police officials have disclosed that DGP Vikas Sahay conducted a video conference with all commissioners, Range Heads, and District SPs. They were advised to request additional police support if necessary, considering the simultaneous celebrations of Eid-e-Milad and Ganesh Visarjan.
DGP Sahay has stated that the meetings are underway with Mohalla committees and leaders of religious communities. With our preparations, we expect no disruptions to the peace in the state.
Additional DGP (Law and Order) Rajesh Brahmbhatt anticipates a peaceful situation. Nonetheless, a statewide alert will be in effect starting at 7 am on September 28.
In Ahmedabad, the city police have requested support from four companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), anticipating the joint celebration of both festivals. G S Malik, the city police chief, shared that preparations are in full swing for the dual festivities on September 28. The deployment of the police force in the city was also discussed during a meeting at the city police commissioner’s office in Shahibaug. Mufti Shabbir Alam from Jama Masjid confirmed that Eid-e-Milad celebrations are scheduled for September 28, emphasizing that both communities are eager for peaceful celebrations and promoting communal harmony DeshGujarat
