Amreli: A lioness died on Thursday near Khadkala village of Savarkundla taluka in Amreli district after it was hit by a moving train. A railway track near Khadkala has seen the deaths of several lions and lionesses in recent years after they were hit by trains.

Forest department staffers from Savarkundla and Liliya rushed to the spot after the incident. A lioness died of serious injuries on its back and legs as per the primary observation. The passenger train was stopped for about a half an hour following the incident. DeshGujarat
