Vande Bharat Express train to connect Ahmedabad and Sanand; Vande Bharat Metro likely next year
September 23, 2023
Sanand: Ahmedabad-Jamnagar Vande Bharat Express train will get a stoppage at Sanand. The express train is going to be flagged off virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24 along with 8 other Vande Bharat Express trains nationwide.
An announcement of Sanand getting Vande Bharat stoppage was made by none other than the union Railway Minister at Sanand itself today. The minister was here to attend the ground breaking function for construction of India’s first Rs. 22,000 crore Semiconductor plant of Micron.
The minister in his address said, ‘today we are in Sanand, and the city of Ahmedabad is nearby. The Chief Minister and Industry Minister of Gujarat told me that the Prime Minister is going to flag off Vande Bharat Express train tomorrow and whether it can stop at Sanand’
The minister further said, ‘So I want to make announcement that Vande Bharat will stop at your place (Sanand) also. And very soon, Ahmedabad – Sanand route will get a world-class train service in which Gurushars Singh (of Micron) can bring his (semiconductor) chips, and those working at Sanand, can travel to and from Ahmedabad in a first-class high-speed train.’
The minister said this connectivity will be ready within next six months.
The minister was perhaps indicating start of Vande Metro between Ahmedabad and Sanand. It’s worth noting that Indian Railways is working on a mission mode to launch two more versions of Vande Bharat next year. The Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF) of Indian Railways is working for the production of Vande Bharat Sleeper version as well as the Vande Metro coaches. The Vande Bharat Metro will run at a distance of less than 100 kms which suits Sanand – Ahmedabad route. Vande Bharat Metro will run on conventional railway tracks. In the coming years, this new format will replace the existing suburban and non-suburban i.e. local trains. DeshGujarat
