Motera: The highly anticipated World Cup match between India and Pakistan is underway, creating a vibrant cricket atmosphere at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Enthusiastic crowds of cricket fans have gathered at the stadium, rallying behind the Indian team with resounding chants of ‘India… India…’. Home Minister Amit Shah has joined the stands with audience as Indian team is firing shots to reach target of 192 runs.
In the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. As the game unfolds, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State BJP President C R Patil, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, and industrialist Lakshmi Mittal are among the more than one lakh cricket fans present at the Motera Stadium.
Spectators were granted entry into the stadium starting at 10 am. Just before the match, at 12:30 PM, popular artists Arijit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, and Sunidhi Chauhan delivered musical performances in front of a large audience. It’s important to note that the pre-match ceremony was exclusively available to the in-stadium audience and not broadcasted on TV or available online.
The state administration has implemented rigorous security measures to prevent any untoward incidents. The audience had to pass through several layers of security to reach their seats.
In another development, tickets were being sold outside the stadium, and the crime branch apprehended a man named Sohil for selling tickets. The police have arrested around 10 people for selling black market tickets. A spectator named Mahipal Rajpurohit revealed that he had received six complimentary tickets from a friend four days ago, each valued at 2500 rupees. Upon reaching gate number 2 with his friends, their tickets were scanned, only to discover they were not genuine. This issue affected several others as well.
Among the crowd, a girl from Chandkheda in Ahmedabad, a fervent fan of Virat Kohli, garnered attention. She reached the stadium in a wheelchair to witness India’s victory in the India-Pakistan match.
To ensure security, over 2,000 CCTV cameras actively monitor the match from the Ahmedabad Police Control Room, providing comprehensive surveillance across the city during the event. Police arrangements have been put in place at various locations, including the BJP office in Khanpur, where preparations have been made to manage potential incidents during the match.
Zone 2 DCP Shripal Seshama explained that stringent security measures are in place for the India-Pakistan match, with multiple security agencies involved. Spectators are allowed to bring only a limited number of items into the stadium, such as purses, mobile phones, essential medicines, and national flags representing both countries. No other items are permitted. Entry is being granted solely to individuals with authentic tickets, and Book My Show staff will assist with verifying genuine tickets versus counterfeits. Additionally, Rapid Action Force (RAF) units have been deployed outside the Narendra Modi Stadium to enhance security. DeshGujarat
