PM Modi urges Amitabh Bachchan to visit Statue of Unity, Kutch Rann Utsav

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi went to X (formerly Twitter) to invite the senior actor Amitabh Bachchan to Kutch Rann Utsav and Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

Amitabh Bachchan had played as the brand ambassador of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) in 2012, when PM Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Bachchan today afternoon tweeted a picture of PM Modi’s recent visit to Parvati Kund and Jageshwar. The Prime Minister in around an hour only, quoting Bachchan’s tweet urged the latter to visit Kutch during Rann Utsav and also the Statue of Unity.

The Prime Minister said – in the coming weeks, Rann Utsav is starting and I would urge you to visit Kutch. Your visit to the Statue of Unity is also due.

It’s worth noting that way back in 2012 when Amitabh Bachchan was the brand ambassador of TCGL, the Statue of Unity was not built. The actor has therefore not visited this newer tourism place in Gujarat where the tallest statue of the world is located apart from other tourist attractions including a zoological park, river rafting and more. Bachchan had however visited Kutch for Khusbhoo Gujarat Ki campaign. Bachchan had in 2012 became brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism and done number of Khushboo Gujarat Ki campaign advertisements for TV, radio and print on invitation of then Chief Minister Modi. Bachchan had admired Gujarat then, for which he had to face the verbal attack of the then ruling party in the Centre Congress.

TCGL reportedly again approached Bachchan for the next round of advertisement under Khusbhoo Gujarat Ki campaign recently, but Bachchan had showed inability due to health reasons, as shoot of such ads would demand extensive outing and touring.

Khusbhoo Gujarat Ki campaign had been very successful in 2012-13 and resulted in a turnaround of the tourism sector in the State. Especially the Gir sanctuary and surrounding areas and Kutch immensely benefited from it, not just in terms of more tourist footfalls but also in terms of creation of new tourism infrastructure.
