Google enters GIFT City Gujarat; takes a floor on lease for Global Fintech Centre

Gandhinagar: Tech giant Google has entered the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gujarat and has taken office space on lease here. The U.S. headquarters tech giant company’s Indian arm, Google India, has taken on lease an entire floor of office space in the ‘Fintech One’ tower.
The tower is by Nucleus Office Parks, owned by Blackstone Group. Google has taken the space on 10 10-year long-term lease.
Google will set up its global fintech center here.
In a virtual interaction with the CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai on Monday, the Prime Minister welcomed Google’s plans to open its global fintech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar. Pichai informed the Prime Minister regarding Google’s plans to improve financial inclusion in India by leveraging the strength and reach of GPay and UPI. He also emphasized Google’s commitment to contribute to the development trajectory of India.
In June this year, after his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pichai announced that the company would establish its global fintech operation center in GIFT City of Gujarat. Pichai highlighted the opening of the global fintech operation center in GIFT City, Gujarat, stating, “We are excited today that we are announcing the opening of our global fintech operation center in GIFT City, Gujarat. It will solidify India’s fintech leadership, thanks to UPI and Aadhaar. And we are going to build on that foundation and take it globally.” DeshGujarat
