VHP dharna outside Danilimda Police Station, seeking FIR in bus incident

Ahmedabad: Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today staged a protest outside the Danilimda Police Station here, demanding an FIR to be filed in an incident where a bus carrying VHP and Bajrang Dal workers was stopped by members of the Muslim community few days back.

The incident took place on October 8th when a group of Muslims objected to slogan chanting in ‘their’ area by a bus carrying VHP cadres in Jamalpur, Ahmedabad. A Muslim individual could be heard saying, ‘What would happen if we chant ‘Nara e takbeer Allahu Akbar’ in your area?’ The issue did not escalate at that time, and a video of the incident went viral.

Informing about the protest, a VHP cadre said, ‘On October 8th, there was a function for the culmination of the Shourya Yatra at the Riverfront. Cadres from all across Gujarat were arriving for that program, and a bus carrying VHP workers from Vadodara was passing through Danilimda. At that time, Muslims stopped the bus and harassed the workers. The workers were simply passing through while performing their Ram dhun and chanting Vande Matram in a closed bus, yet they (Muslims) stopped it. They tried to harass the Hindus in an attempt to disrupt the peace. So, we are sitting here, demanding that an FIR be filed, and legal action should be taken against the culprits.’

It is learned that a delegation of senior VHP leaders met with the City Police Commissioner in his office, who assured them that action would be taken in the matter. DeshGujarat
