All business moving or going to Gujarat: INDI alliance leader Uddhav Thackeray complains

Mumbai: Day in and day out, the I.N.D.I alliance leaders don’t miss any opportunity to bring in Gujarat in their political discourse, of course in poor taste.

The latest comes from Uddhav Thackeray. In the jittery of losing power, government, and party MLAs and MPs, Thackeray today said, “Mumbai’s importance had increased then but now these two people sitting in Delhi have been erasing all this. Now all businesses are moving or going to Gujarat. Yesterday, one diamond business moved to Gujarat… You are killing the importance of Mumbai…”

It’s worth noting that a diamond firm Thackeray is pointing out is Kiran Gems which has decided to shift its base from Mumbai to the newly constructed Surat Diamond Bourse in Surat. Kiran Gems has also asked its employees to shift to Surat, where thanks to the new bourse, entire diamond business is going to be centralized. Earlier the diamond business was divided between Mumbai and Surat. Now the industry barons have decided to make it centralized in Surat Diamond Bourse in Surat. Kiran Gems recently arranged a tour of its employees to Surat and showcased them the Surat Diamond Bourse and the city of Surat.

During Uddhav’s rule in Maharashtra, the progress of Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail project (bullet train project) was stalled due to noncooperation of his government. The Mumbai metro project’s progress had slowed down and almost stopped. The only broadcaster who had chosen to make Mumbai as his base instead of Delhi or Noida was arrested for news channel’s stand on several issues against Uddhav government. Surat is among the fastest growing cities in the world. Surat doesn’t have daily commuting issues like that in Mumbai in reference to long to and from journeys between home and office in local trains.Communities from across India have made Surat their home for job and business.

Another attack against Gujarat recently was from Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole. He on Thursday claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting Maharashtra to get some industries, including the diamond sector, to shift to neighbouring Gujarat.

In another attack, Congress party’s mouthpiece National Heral’s editor made food terrorism allegations against Gujaratis and especially Jain Gujaratis living in Maharashtra.
